About the Project

Sanitation program at the Centre for Policy Research (CPR) is a multi-disciplinary research, outreach and policy support initiative. The program seeks to improve the understanding of the reasons for poor sanitation, and to examine how these might be related to technology and service delivery models, institutions, governance, and financial issues, and socio-economic dimensions.
Based on research findings, it seeks to support national, state and city authorities develop policies and programs for intervention with the goal of increasing access to inclusive, safe and sustainable sanitation. Initiated in 2013, the program is primarily funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF).

Description of Responsibilities

  • We are looking to engage a person for three months (from February’20 to April’20).
  • This position will involve research and programmatic support in project locations on issues related to affordable housing in the urban context in India.
  • This will entail reviewing policies, preparing detailed summaries of
    academic papers, examining case studies, and emerging global best practices in the urban housing sector.

Essential Qualification

  • Master’s in Urban Planning or Social Sciences or Public Policy or any other relevant field.
  • A minimum of 0-3 years of professional experience in the development sector, preferably in the urban housing sector.
  • Freshers are also encouraged to apply.

Required Skills

  • Excellent conceptual and analytical skills on issues of land, planning and housing.
  • Ability to read widely across disciplines and review relevant literature.
  • Ability to engage in qualitative and quantitative data collation and analysis
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to document the key process involved in the success of interventions
  • Ability to prepare detailed policy reviews
  • Substantial experience in advocacy and policy development/research in the development context.
  • Proven research and practice record.
  • Any other task as required

Selection Criteria/Application process:

  • This is a full time, contractual job for three months.
  • This position is for Delhi but will require frequent travel to project locations and research locations.
